넷제로 보험연합(NZIA, Net-Zero Insurance Alliance)은 파리협약에 정한 탄소중립 목표 달성을 위한 보험사, 재보험사 들의 글로벌 보험연합이다.

민간 금융 부문의 지속 가능한 개발 동참을 위한 UNEP(유엔 환경프로그램)와 글로벌 금융 부문 간의 파트너십인 UNEP FI(유엔 환경프로그램 금융 이니셔티브)에 의해 결성되었다.

 

창립 멤버사는 AXA (Chair), Allianz, Aviva, Generali, Munich Re, SCOR, Swiss Re, Zurich 등이다.

 

한국에서는 신한라이프가 업계 최초로 NZIA에 가입했다.

 

NZIA 회원사는 상품 및 서비스 개발, 보험계약 인수, 자산운용 등 과정에서 직·간접적으로 발생하는 탄소 배출량을 줄이기 위해 5년 마다 과학기반 중간 목표를 개별적으로 설정하며,  매년 진행 상황을 보고한다.

Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA)

 

 

 

The UN-convened Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA) brings together fifteen of the world’s leading insurers and reinsurers to play their part in accelerating the transition to net-zero emissions economies.

 

They are committing to individually transition their underwriting portfolios to net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, consistent with a maximum temperature rise of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.

 

As risk managers, insurers and investors, the insurance industry has a key role in supporting the transition to a net-zero economy. NZIA members will individually set science-based intermediate targets every five years and independently report on their progress publicly on an annual basis.

 

The NZIA is building on the pioneering work that the founding signatories have already begun as investors through their membership of the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance where all eight NZIA founding members are already individually setting science-based 2025 decarbonisation targets for their respective investment portfolios in line with a net-zero transition pathway.

 

The founding members of the NZIA are AXA (Chair), Allianz, Aviva, Generali, Munich Re, SCOR, Swiss Re, and Zurich.

 

It is convened by the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative and chaired by AXA’s Group Chief Risk Officer, Renaud Guidée.

 

The commitment signed by the members of the NZIA is accredited by the UN Race to Zero having been reviewed by an independent group of experts, comprising scientific and technical experts and practitioners. 

 

The NZIA is a member of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net-Zero.
